Autism a Journey
This site is really an ongoing project and is more of a personal story and diary of a personal nature. My son was diagnosed with autism approximately 2 years ago and at that time there wasn'm much in the way of help or content online for parents. In fact, I actually felt quite alone during the early stages of diagnosis. There really isnt anything quite as bad as going through the myriad of doctors visits and dealing with the behavioural and discipline issues when you feel like your the only person in the world dealing with these troubles. Thankfully, i'm through that process now but I want other parents dealing with autistic children to not have to feel alone. I will therefore be updating this blog fairly regularly with stories and some solutions that I have found helped. One thing is for sure with autism...it really is a process of finding what works with your child. So hopefully this helps.

I've just woken up this morning with a splitting headache and this makes it hard to deal with my son. Being a parent of an autistic child requires heaps of patience and today is a tough one. Sometimes I feel like you just dont get a break as a parent and that there is never any respite. Well i'm just going to have to make do and gut it out. I have to take Jonas to the doctor today for some tests as well as shopping for some new school shoes. Hopefully some panadol works as otherwise i'm not going to be very pleasant to be around.
Blah!
A frustrated sick parent.
P.S - Just found a blog dealing with different forms of autism: Mild Autism Info
